Arm-wrestling-My Father-Summary

The essay "Arm Wrestling with my Father" written by Brad Manning is about a father-son relationship in which the physical contact between both were majorly the only way of communication between each other. The author describes very detailed his felt emotions over the years. They were positive and negative aginst his father & the way his father tried to teach his son the idea of competition. His son went almost through all possible stages emotionally and body wise. The authordescribes his development and gaining of strength over the time, he also describes very clear and imaginable the moment he becomes superior to his father in the physical activity of arm wrestling. He again goes through emotional stages of his feelings about his recent won superior situation. At the end the strength shift opens the oral vacum between & the father hugs his son and tells him that he loves him after a lifetime. The son didn't know how to deal with that and was hoping to get this chance again of hearing that from his father & to go further in this direction of emotional opening.
